C.S. Lewis: The Life and Works of the Compelling Christian:
In this five-week course with instructor Teresa M. Testa, students will engage with the life and literature of the renowned twentieth-century author Clive Staples Lewis. As witness to variable human moralities as well as the beneficial qualities of human nature such as faith, love, and honesty, C. S. Lewis's philosophical works establish and celebrate the relationship of ethics to living with dignity. While relating one’s personal ethical and religious beliefs to the central themes within the works, students will focus on the required reading of Mere Christianity as well as selected excerpts provided from the author's additional anthology including: The Problem of Pain, The Screwtape Letters, The Abolition of Man, The Four Loves, and A Grief Observed. Prepare for the unexpected as we embark on a search for the definite amid the indefinite while studying the ever fascinating and brilliant moral philosopher.
To be acquired for the first session: Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis (unabridged, any edition).
