TRULY INTERESTING PEOPLE WITH REMARKABLE STORIES In this course we will learn about real people who lived in extremely difficult times or under very challenging circumstances and not only survived, but did so heroically. The following books will be discussed:

• "Beneath a Scarlet Sky" by Mark Sullivan,
• "Elephant Company" by Vicki Constantine Croke,  
• "Under Magnolia" by Frances Mayes, author of Under the Tuscan Sky & Every Day in Tuscany,
• "Liar/Temptress/Soldier/Spy: Four Women Undercover in the Civil War" by Karen Abbott, and
• "What No Child Should See" by Donna DeLeo Bruno.

Three 2-hour sessions.

Donna Bruno returns this summer to present an intriguing mix of opportunities to discover books which may have escaped your attention. It is not necessary to have read the books in advance, as the purpose of these lectures is to whet the appetite to explore these writings. However, if you have read one or more of the titles in each course, you are most welcome to attend. 
BOOK LOOK with Donna Bruno Donna Bruno is a book reviewer for East Bay Newspapers and the John Knox Village Gazette in Pompano Beach, FL. 
She is the author of Books That Transport to Other Places and What No Child Should See, which has just been accepted at the National Holocaust Museum in Washington, DC, which is asking permission to transfer it electronically for further dissemination.
