PERU & MACCHU PICHU Wednesday, August 14 Nicholas Pappas and his wife, Mary Ellen Lynch, will share images and background of their 3 and 1/2-week trip to Peru in 2009. Their adventure began with a 4-day trek from Cusco, Peru, along the Inca Trail to Macchu Pichu, where they spent 2 full days in the ruins; Inca culture will be detailed in the presentation. Their journey also included a trip over the beautiful altiplano (South American Sierra Desert) to Puno and Lake Titicaca, where they visited the Islas Flotantes (Floating Islands) and indigenous people whose ancestors fled the Spanish invasion in the 16th century. Images of the Colca Canyon, which is twice as deep as the Grand Canyon, will also be shown.
BLC and the Peck Center for Adult Enrichment continue a collaboration to offer more opportunities to travel the world without leaving town! We continue with outstanding presentations on different areas of our beautiful earth. Most presentations will take place on Wednesday afternoons, please note day and dates next to title, from 1:00-2:00 PM, at the Peck Center for Adult Enrichment, where refreshments will be served at each illustrated lecture. Additional programs will be offered in the fall term. FEE for Each Session: $10 per adult/$5 senior citizen rate. Cash or check payable to Town of Barrington may be mailed to BLC OR delivered to either the BLC office or the Peck Center for Adult Enrichment. Pre-registration is requested, but not required.
