The MFA opened its doors to the public on July 4, 1876, the nation's centennial. Built in Copley Square, the MFA was then home to 5,600 works of art. Over the next several years, the collection and number of visitors grew exponentially, and in 1909 the Museum moved to its current home on Huntington Avenue. While there be sure to take some time in there featured exhibits such as “Women Take the Floor” challenges the dominant history of 20th-century American art by focusing on the overlooked and underrepresented work and stories of women artists. This reinstallation—or “takeover”—of Level 3 of the Art of the Americas Wing advocates for diversity, inclusion, and gender equity in museums, the art world, and beyond. With more than 200 works drawn primarily from the MFA’s collection, the exhibition is organized into seven thematic galleries. Interactive programming creates a dynamic space that welcomes visitor participation, and new rotations of artwork introduced over the run of the exhibition ensure that new voices and perspectives are available on each return visit. following from our day at the museum we will head to a sit down lunch. Price includes: Museum ticket, Bus driver + gratuity and a sit down lunch in Boston.

    A BRONX TALE - PPAC
    February 22, 2020

Jersey Boys meets West Side Story.” - amNewYork

Three years ago, Academy Award nominee Chazz Palminteri teamed up with Academy Award® winner Robert De Niro, Tony® Award winner Jerry Zaks and Tony® Award nominee Sergio Trujillo to create this streetwise musical - based on Palminteri’s true life story.

A BRONX TALE, Broadway’s hit crowd-pleaser, takes you to the stoops of the Bronx in the 1960s, where a young man is caught between the father he loves and the mob boss he’d love to be.

Bursting with high-energy dance numbers and original doo-wop tunes from Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast) and Glenn Slater (Love Never Dies), A BRONX TALE is an unforgettable story of loyalty and family.

The New York Times hails A BRONX TALE as “A Critics’ Pick!  The kind of tale that makes you laugh and cry.”

Before the show, we’ll have a lovely luncheon with choice of entrée served at a local restaurant.

Isabella Stewart Gardner, about 1850ISABELLA STEWART GARDNER MUSEUM BOSTON:  Join us on a guided tour though Isabella Stewart's home.  After years of collecting on a small, personal scale, in 1891 Isabella inherited $1.75 million upon her father’s death and was able to begin collecting on a greatly expanded level. Upon purchasing Rembrandt’s Self-Portrait, Age 23 in 1896, Isabella and her husband Jack decided their ambitions as collectors required more space than their residence permitted and first began to consider the idea of a museum. Isabella and Jack reached out to the architect Willard Sears, who had remodeled their house in Brookline. At first the couple considered expanding their current home, combining two houses on Beacon Street. However, as Isabella’s collection and ambitions continued to grow, Jack felt it would be more sensible to buy land and build a new building for the museum with apartments for themselves within it.

Following from our day at the museum we will head to a sit down lunch in Boston.
