    January 20-30, 2020!

This 10-day, small group (12-24 passengers) tour is a new offering which has the allure of a red-hot culture steeped in history, art and tradition. Colombia is south America’s Andean oasis, a technicolor amalgam of culture, history and romance from Bogota, Colombia’s capital, to Cartegena.  We’ll visit colorful markets, offering a sensory explosion of exotic produce and flowers, the Museo del Oro, where 55,000 pieces of gold from pre-Hispanic cultures are exhibited, mystical valleys and rolling jade hills in Colombia’s coffee zone, mural art in city neighborhoods, and a traditional flower farm where lush arrangements serve as Medellin’s cultural symbol.  Traditional musicians and dancers in colorful costumes and selling fruit from the tops of their turbaned heads will entertain us, while the majesty of the Corcora Valley will be experienced aboard equipped 4x4 jeeps known as “Willys.”  Throughout, we’ll indulge in menus highlighting traditional ingredients, taste Colombia’s delicious coffee, and explore historic sites.  This is the cultural adventure you have been waiting for!

Isabella Stewart Gardner, about 1850ISABELLA STEWART GARDNER MUSEUM BOSTON:  Join us on a guided tour through Isabella Stewart's home.  After years of collecting on a small, personal scale, in 1891 Isabella inherited $1.75 million upon her father’s death and was able to begin collecting on a greatly expanded level. Upon purchasing Rembrandt’s Self-Portrait, Isabella and her husband Jack decided their ambitions as collectors required more space than their residence permitted and first began to consider the idea of a museum. Isabella and Jack reached out to the architect Willard Sears, who had remodeled their house in Brookline. At first the couple considered expanding their current home, combining two houses on Beacon Street. However, as Isabella’s collection and ambitions continued to grow, Jack felt it would be more sensible to buy land and build a new building for the museum with apartments for themselves within it.

Following our day at the museum, we will head to a sit down dinner in Boston.

The Newport Flower Show - "Voices in the Garden" one of New England’s Premier Flower Shows.

Voices are like fingerprints. Each has a unique register and leaves an indelible signature.  A garden is the reflection of the gardener’s voice.  Whether that voice echoes the strength of mighty trees, the romance of fragrant flowers, or the laughter of bubbling water, all are still heard in great gardens.  Celebrate the voices of great American gardeners with us!

The day will include a sit down lunch in Newport.
