ANNUAL BARRINGTON TREE LIGHTING TO BE VIRTUAL THIS YEAR

The 2020 Annual Tree Lighting festivities will be held on Saturday, December 5^th.  It will look quite different this year.  This holiday season will be unprecedented, and we are creating new ways to celebrate and share special occasions.  The Barrington Tree Lighting will be in large part videotaped and streamed via various social media.  

BARRINGTON TOWN HALL NORTH POLE VISIT

The event will begin with a COVID19 safe drive through the North Pole at Barrington Town Hall.  Each registered child will receive a stocking filled with goodies.  They will have an opportunity to say hello to Santa and deliver their letter to him.  Santa will give out stockings between 1 pm and 3 pm on Saturday, December 5^th.  More detailed instructions will be sent to the registrants just prior to the event via email.

All Barrington children between the ages of 2 and 13 can register for this event starting on Thursday, November 12^th at noon.  SOLD OUT

Children must be registered to receive a stocking.  Santa has 165 stockings to hand out so be sure to register early.

FAVORITE HOLIDAY MEMORY CONTEST

As part of our new virtual tree lighting ceremony, we would like to announce a contest for children to share with us their favorite holiday season memory.  This can be up to one page long.  Three stories will be picked and the winners will read their story on videotape and have it streamed at the tree lighting.  The winners will also each receive a Barrington Books gift card.  Send your child’s story to recreation@barrington.ri.gov by Friday, November 20^th at noon.

VIRTUAL TREE LIGHTING CEREMONY SCHEDULE

The town’s Annual Tree Lighting will take place on Saturday, December 5^th between 4 pm and 5 pm.  The exact timing will be determined prior to the event and will be posted on the town’s home page Holiday slider at www.barrington.ri.gov
